Important Shop Policies & Fees
1. The "Metal Encounter" Fee
Hidden nails, fencing, or bullets can ruin a $200 carbide insert set instantly.
Penalty: $150.00 per encounter + the cost of any damaged tooling. We highly recommend scanning your wood with a metal detector before arrival.
2. Moisture Content Surcharge
We will not flatten wood with a moisture content over 12% for furniture use, as it will warp immediately after surfacing.
• Kiln Drying Verification: Free-ask for an assessment and offer kiln drying services as an option
• Storage Fee: If a slab must "acclimate" in our shop or be stored for my then 5 days from the order date being complete, a $1.00/foot per day climate-controlled storage fee applies.
3. Minimums
• Shop Minimum: $75.00 (Covers setup time for even the smallest pieces).
• Rush Order: 25% markup for 48-hour turnaround.
When receiving an estimate, a quote range will be provided. For example: "For a slab this size, it typically lands between $150 and $200 depending on how many passes we have to take to get it true."
